I went to Heidelberg. Heidelberg has a university, a lot of bars, a lot of Americans, and a great big castle. The castle stuck out because it is much larger than all the other European castles that I'd seen before. I got really curious about who built the thing. Germany was united into a single country in the 19th century. I think the third king of Germany was the one that got involved in World War I. Before that, Germany was independent states. The castle was built in the 16th century, so it was done be a regional prince and certainly not by the king of Germany.

While at the castle, I got frustrated by not having a real camera. The family symbol for the castle was the lion. There were numerous lions stationed around the castle, each of them based on some person. Every lion showed a different personality. I couldn't find a way to capture their personalities without having a much bigger zoom lens than I have (or a long ladder). I left slightly frustrated by that.
